About Drama in the Dale

Our mission is to provide a creative outlet for quality cultural activities, offering opportunities for lifelong learning in theatre for members of Drama in the Dale, the community of Weardale and beyond, and in doing so, to provide entertainment for all.

We’re always looking for more people to join Drama in the Dale. Whether you’re interested in performing or working backstage, you’ll always get a warm welcome.

Since 2014, Drama in the Dale has been working with the Royal Shakespeare Company as part of the Open Stages programme. The aim of the project is to embrace and celebrate amateur theatre, re-forgoing its bond with the world of professional theatre.

What We’re Currently Working On

Drama in the Dale’s next production will be Shakespeare’s As You Like It

As You Like It subverts the traditional rules of romance. Gender roles, nature and politics are confused in a play that reflects on how bewildering yet utterly pleasurable life can be.

The Group

Drama in the Dale grew from an ambitious adult and community learning project initiated by Jack Drum Arts.
